SPECIAL EVENT

Building Neuro-affirming Residential or Homeschooling Groups: Meet the Others
Are you looking for an intentional community where you can have real input on the design from the ground up? Many neurodivergent individuals and families want the deep support of a close-knit neighborhood, but still need the privacy, autonomy, and low-sensory environment of their own separate space.
We are working to connect those who want to create a neurodiversity-inclusive resource-sharing group or residential community, typically cohousing or pocket neighborhood style. We want to bring together like-minded families and individuals to co-create safe, predictable, and sensory-friendly environments.
If you want to help shape the culture and design of an intentional community in your region, please join our upcoming call. The first step is to find the others!
- Date: 30 June 2026
- Time: 7:30 PM ET / 4:30 PM PT for 90 minutes (see worldtimebuddy.com for easy time finder)
- Location: You can go directly to the Zoom link at the LINK TO GATHERING button or provide your email address to be notified of future meetings below
- Who it’s for: Neurodivergent adults, parents of autistic/neurodivergent children, and allies interested in inclusive intentional community building.
What to Expect
This will be a collaborative, low-pressure meeting. You can participate as much or as little as you like (cameras-on or cameras-off are both completely welcome!).
- Welcome & Vision Overview: A brief introduction to the intentional communities model and why design input at the forming stage matters.
- Example: Meghan Bonde from Work the Way You’re Wired will briefly introduce her ND-friendly homeschooling group and planned intentional community in the Denver area.
- Brainstorming: What does an ideal neuro-inclusive neighborhood look like to you? (quiet rooms, guided conflict resolution, clear social guidelines and community expectations, safe outdoor spaces for kids).
- Regional Breakout Sessions: We will provide rooms by geographic area so you can connect with those living closest to you.
- Next Steps: How to stay involved in the forming process and find others in your region.
A note on accessibility: We aim to make this call as comfortable as possible. Feel free to stim, move around, use the chat instead of speaking, or take breaks as needed.
Let’s build spaces where we can thrive, together but negotiating our own terms.
